WEYMOUTH & PORTLAND 126 PUDDLETOWN 5

PUDDLETOWN were the victims of a rampant Weymouth & Portland on the final day of the Dorset & Wilts Two South season at Monmouth Avenue.

The hosts crossed the Villagers’ try line no fewer than 19 times as Paul Harding’s troops racked up more than a century of points.

Bryn Llewellyn scored an amazing 46 points, including three tries, while Joel Wilson (4), Duncan Bezzant (3), Steve Nation- Grainger (3), Jonathan Mason (2), Ryan Lewendon (2), Joe Gibson and Jake Guildford also crossed.

But despite the impressive result and performance, Weymouth & Portland chief Harding would have liked a tougher test.

“It wasn’t enjoyable,” he said.

“We were just far too good for them in every department and it was a bit of a boring spectacle for those watching.

“Don’t get me wrong, we scored some very good tries and moved the ball nicely, but in the second half we were scoring a try every other minute.

“Fair play to Puddletown, they all kept going and didn’t give up, but we were quicker, fitter and stronger.”

Looking at the positives, he added: “It did show how far we have come since the start of the season and it’s possibly the biggest win I’ve had coaching the team.

“I’d like to mention my captain, Kevin Leatham, who has been terrific all season. I’m hoping he is going to captain the team again next season.

“Jake Guildford has been outstanding and improved massively this year.

“Bryn had a terrific game as well. He has improved beyond all recognition this season.”

Harding confirmed that Guildford and Bezzant are now set to go to university.
