THE top two sides in Dorset & Wilts Two South put their 100 per cent records on the line tomorrow when Weymouth & Portland host leaders New Milton Seconds (3pm).

Both teams have won their first three games but an extra try bonus point means New Milton hold the slenderest of advantages over Paul Harding’s men.

Joel Wilson and James Borrington both miss out for the seasiders through injury and unavailability respectively, while Craig Barter is also a doubt.

Head coach Harding still expects to field a strong side at Monmouth Avenue this weekend but feels that a break in fixtures last Saturday wasn’t ideal at all.

“New Milton are at the top of the table so we know it’s going to be quite a tough game,” he said.

“But we haven’t played for two weeks which is a bit of a problem when you’re trying to build a team. We have been training but you lose that match sharpness when you have a weekend off.

“Our style is to play what’s in front of us and we’ve got some good pace in the backs.

“We want to play open rugby as we’re not a side that dominates through our forwards.”

Commenting on his squad, he added: “Unfortunately Joel Wilson is still not right and he will be missing through injury.

“He has got a knee problem and it might be that he needs a small operation on it. It’s a shame he won’t be available for us and a blow for him too. There are doubts over Craig Barter but I’m hoping he will be as he has been one of our standout players so far.

“James Borrington at hooker is unavailable but we’ll have a pretty good side out.”

Harding has also been keeping a close eye on the World Cup, though he obviously didn’t enjoy England’s dismal campaign.

“Some of the rugby has been brilliant,” he said. “From an England perspective it has been a little disappointing to say the least.

“I think Stuart Lancaster has made some mistakes but do you let him learn from those or bring someone else in? It’s a difficult decision for the RFU.”

Elsewhere, Dorchester host Bradford-on-Avon in Southern Counties South and Swanage & Wareham entertain Trowbridge in South West One East.

Dorchester, winners over Wimborne last time out, face a side that is yet to pick up a victory this season.

Also in Two South, Bridport and Puddletown host Poole and North Dorset Thirds respectively, while Dorchester Seconds visit Yeovil.

Dorchester Thirds have a home game against Salisbury Thirds in Three South.
