WEYMOUTH & Portland are going to be without two of their most influential players this weekend – but head coach Paul Harding has high hopes for the duo replacing them.

Youngsters Tom Drummond and Josh Cameron, who have already tasted first-team action this season, will pull on the jerseys vacated by back-rowers George Carter and Ryan Lewendon.

Harding has been impressed with what he has seen of Drummond and Cameron so far, and it is not just in the pack that the teenagers are able to show off their skills.

Both are more than able to play in more than one position, with Drummond featuring at outside-half and Cameron at scrum-half for Harding’s men in recent weeks.

“George has got a shoulder injury and Ryan has got a hand injury so Tom and Josh will come in for them,” said Harding, whose team host Wheatsheaf Cabin Crew in Dorset & Wilts Two South tomorrow (2.15pm).

“It’s a shame to lose those two guys in the back row but both youngsters have come in this season and done really well.

“It’s a great opportunity for them tomorrow and they are more than capable of doing a good job.

“We’ve got a lot of good youngsters at the club and we are slowly bringing them on.

“Tom has been playing at 10 for us but he is just as comfortable in the back row as he is there.

“He will do a great job for you wherever you play him.

“Josh has been dying to get an opportunity to play and he is a real prospect.

“He has played scrum-half for us before but could play 10 or 12 as well.”

Someone else hoping to get a run out soon is prop Tim Comben, who has been away taking part in strongman competitions.

“Tim returning is a real bonus for us,” added Harding. “He was at training on Tuesday and hopefully he will play for us again soon.

“That would be a massive boost because we’ve been struggling a bit in the front row this season.”

Elsewhere in Two South tomorrow, Bridport go to Dorchester Seconds and Puddletown host Bournemouth Thirds.

Dorchester are away to Royal Wootton Bassett in Southern Counties South, Swanage & Wareham make the trip to Witney in South West One East, and Dorchester Thirds entertain Wimborne Thirds in Dorset & Wilts Three South.

Weymouth & Portland Seconds are at Blandford Seconds and Bridport Seconds welcome Swanage & Wareham Fourths in Dorset & Wilts Four.
