DORCHESTER head to Wimborne tomorrow (2.15pm) hoping their stay at the bottom of the Southern Counties South table lasts just the one week.

The county town team took over as the league’s basement boys last weekend when they were nilled by Devizes and Frome saw off Dorset Dockers.

That 27-0 reverse against fourth-placed Devizes was Dorchester’s eighth in a row and left them propping up the standings with just five points from a dozen fixtures.

Coach Paul Dunne and his players face a Wimborne side who, despite being ninth in the table, are notoriously hard to beat.

Meanwhile, Swanage & Wareham, bottom of South West One East, go in search of their third win of the campaign tomorrow when they host Swindon.

Weymouth & Portland will hope Bridport can do them a big favour in Dorset & Wilts Two South this weekend.

While Paul Harding’s troops entertain Fordingbridge Seconds at Monmouth Avenue, Bridport make the trip to leaders Yeovil, now seven points clear at the summit with a game in hand over Weymouth & Portland.

In the same division, Dorchester Seconds welcome North Dorset Thirds to Coburg Road and Puddletown host New Milton Seconds. Elsewhere, Dorchester Thirds visit Salisbury Thirds in Dorset & Wilts Three South (all kick-off at 2.15pm).
