SHERBORNE 78 DORCHESTER 6

WITH their resources stretched to the limit, Dorchester travelled to Sherborne with just 16 players and unsurprisingly suffered another heavy defeat in Southern Counties South.

The early exchanges were reasonably even but it was clear that the hosts had too much pace for Dorchester’s defence.

Two early tries from Sherborne were answered by two penalty goals from the visitors’ fly-half George Foot.

Four further tries, three of which were converted, kept the scoreboard ticking over and Sherborne reached half-time a whopping 30 points in front.

The second half was an exercise in damage limitation for the county town side and, for 25 minutes, Dorchester managed to restrict Sherborne to just two more converted tries.

Finally the floodgates opened however, and the home side ran in another four converted tries to seal a bonus-point victory and put 78 points on their visitors.

The result means Dorchester remain rooted to the bottom of the division with just three wins from their 20 league outings so far this term.

They have just 11 points to their name for the campaign and are nine points adrift of 11th-placedBradford-on-Avon.
