LYTCHETT MINSTER 19 DORCHESTER 30

A DOMINANT second-half performance saw Dorchester come from behind to record a third straight Dorset & Wilts One South win.

The county town side elected to play into the strong wind in the first half and were on top for the first 20 minutes.

Keeping the ball in hand they spent most of the time in the Lytchett 22 and after several missed chances, James Baker opened the scoring with the first try.

The visitors then appeared to lose their focus and immediately conceded a soft try, several missed tackles letting the home scrum-half score under the posts.

The momentum was now with the home side and a clever kick caught the Dorchester full-back out of position and Lytchett scored a second converted try.

The visitors were now just trying to reach the break without falling even further behind

but a poor decision by their winger gifted the hosts a third try and they trailed by 14 points at half-time.

The Dorchester coach Paul Dunne said some strong words to his players during the break and it seemed to have the desired effect.

The visitors dominated the second 40 minutes barely letting Lytchett out of their own half.

Right-wing Ryan Haskell narrowed the gap following good work by Matt Fry before George Foot touched down under the posts after two punishing Dorchester scrums, Baker’s conversion

left the visitors just two points adrift.

With 20 minutes remaining, Dorchester finally retook the lead, Haskell skipping down the right touchline for his second score of the day.

Baker slotted a simple penalty and then prop Tom Evans was on the end of another converted attack to close out the game.
