WEYMOUTH & Portland visit Swindon Supermarine in the quarter-finals of the Dorset and Wilts Knockout Vase tomorrow and they are struggling to name a travelling squad.

First team manager Vaughan Carter said: “We have so many injuries and players unable to travel that we will probably not be naming our squad until late on Friday evening which is a shame because, if we can get past this round, I fancy us to go all the way into the final.

“We had to make too many changes last week at Wimborne and paid the penalty going down by 32 points to 12.

“But the Seconds had a convincing win at home against Oakmeadians by 75 points to 12 and now top the Dorset & Wilts Division Three league table, so it wasn’t all bad news.”

*A date for your diary is next Friday evening when Weymouth Veterans take on local rivals Dorchester Veterans under the floodlights at Monmouth Avenue.

The game kicks off at 7pm and club chairman Ian McMillan said: “We have just upgraded our floodlights and what better way to celebrate than by a local derby.”

McMillan added: “Although there are no home matches this weekend, the clubhouse will be open tomorrow and we will be showing the Champions Cup tie between Toulon and Saracens live in the clubhouse from 4.15pm.”
