SHERBORNE II 15
WEYMOUTH & PORTLAND 38
THE Seasiders moved up to sixth in the Dorset & Wilts South One table after a convincing 38-15 win over Sherborne Seconds.
Wingers Norton Rodgers and JT Montephe both crossed for tries with four more coming from full- back Carl Neal, number eight Dan Bowditch and centres Bryn Llewellyn and Ryan Lewendon.
Llewendon also landed four conversions to complete the scoring.
This victory sees Weymouth & Portland keep up their momentum however, the Seasiders’ manager Vaughan Carter said after the game: “There were some positives to take from this contest, but we didn’t play as well as we did last week against Salisbury.
“But, we won ugly and ground out the result and in the end that is all that matters.
“One thing I will say is that Sherborne were a better side than their league position suggests, although they never threatened to beat us they didn’t give up and made us fight for every point.”
Weymouth & Portland’s Second XV ran out 12-5 winners at Monmouth Avenue against Dinton in Dorset & Wilts Three South.
n The club have been donated a defibrillator by Rachel Abel after she won a Facebook competition.
Her two children Jasmine, 13, and Ryan, 10, play for their youth section and Seasiders’ chairman Ian McMillan wished to thank her for the donation.
He said: “I would like to thank Rachel for thinking of us. We will have it mounted in the clubhouse and have people trained to use it.”
