EAST DORSET 11
WEYMOUTH & PORTLAND 19
WEYMOUTH & Portland will meet Swindon Old Boys in the Dorset & Wilts Vase final after beating East Dorset in a tense affair.
JT Moncher, Joel Wilson and Will Quick all scored tries for the visitors as they secured their second victory over East Dorset in as many weeks.
Last Saturday at Monmouth Avenue, the Seasiders put East Dorset to the sword returning a 98-0 rout.
However, on their own patch and buoyed by the return of players unable to make the trip to Weymouth, they put up much sterner opposition and going into the final quarter of the contest led 11-5.
Weymouth & Portland manager Vaughan Carter said: “We expected a harder game, but this was a little too close for comfort.
“Our indiscipline cost us dear, we gave away for too many penalties and that has to stop.
“However, when push came to shove the lads pulled it out of the bag and, in the end, we just wanted it a bit more than they did.”
For Weymouth & Portland, winger Moncher opened his side’s account with a try followed late in the game by centre Wilson and full-back Quick. Ryan Lewendon and Bryn Llewellyn added a conversion each.
The final against Swindon will be played on Saturday, December 3 with the winners picking up the Vase trophy.
