DORCHESTER have all three senior men’s sides in action this weekend.

The first XV travel to second-placed Wimborne in Dorset & Wilts One South tomorrow. The county town side will be looking for revenge at Leigh Park having lost narrowly to the last kick of the match at Coburg Road.

With two big games ahead against the second and third-placed teams in the league, Dorchester must look to keep a strong squad if they are to achieve their goal of finishing in third place. With three regular players out due to work and injury, this gives the chance for other squad members to step up.

Following good performances previously and, after strong games in last week’s Seconds Shield final, Julian Dale comes back into the side on the wing and Laurence Burch starts in the second row alongside first-team regular Adam Makepeace, with Leo Ansell and Brad Mullins on the bench.

Coach Ben Parker said: “The next two weeks are massive in terms of the league outcome and our aspirations for third place.”

Following the Shield final, the seconds entertain Bournemouth Fourths and look to get back to winning ways while the Gladiators welcome Weymouth & Portland in a friendly fixture tonight at Coburg Road.

With the disappointment of the Shield final behind them the second XV now concentrate on a strong Dorset & Wilts Two South finish. With Tim Stephens and Hugh Vivian stepping in at second row and the same strong front row as last week, the platform is set to allow the backs to use their speed to run the ball to Bournemouth.

Tonight also sees the under-14s entertain neighbours Sherborne and Sunday sees the mini section take on the remainder of the sides from Sherborne at Coburg Road.
