IT’S THE RFU knockout competition quarter-finals stage this weekend and Dorset & Wilts clubs are represented in all three national competitions.

In the Intermediate Cup South West Final, Swanage & Wareham entertain Truro at Bestwall Park, Wareham with the game kicking off at 2.30pm.

Swindon College Old Boys who knocked Weymouth & Portland out of the competition visit Saltash in the RFU Senior Vase while in the Junior Vase, Calne entertain Spartans of Gloucester.

All three competitions end with a Twickenham final.

The Dorset & Wilts Senior Second Team Cup Final takes place at Warminster where North Dorset lock horns with Salisbury.

There is no Dorset & Wilts League rugby action at Monmouth Avenue this weekend, but tonight the Seasiders Social XV meet neighbours from over the hill, Dorchester Social with the game kicking off at 7pm.

Tomorrow, the Seasiders stage a three-way rugby league competition between the Army Veterans, Devon Sharks and Dorset Giants with the first match starting at 12.30pm.

Earlier at Monmouth Avenue, a fundraising walk on behalf of Weldmar Hospice Care from Weymouth & Portland Rugby Club to Dorchester Rugby Club begins at 8.30am.

The Seasiders' chairman Ian McMillan said: “Our former captain Julian Quick spent his last days in the care of Weldmar so this is one way we can try to repay them.”

Registration for the walk has closed but all are welcome to come to the inaugural event and watch the walkers leave and then join them in Dorchester for a well earned pie and pint.

This is the first running of this event for Weldmar and it is hoped to become a regular event.

Kindly sponsored by Mike Sams of the Self Storage Company, himself an ex-rugby player and now Dorset & Wilts junior coach.

Other games at Dorchester this weekend see the under-13s take on Cullompton at 10.30am tomorrow.

And Sunday sees the resurgent girls’ teams entertain Bridgwater at 2pm.

The team have been fundraising hard to ensure funds are in place for a tour next season, the first by any girls’ team from Dorchester, and would welcome any spectators to the game.
