WEYMOUTH & Portland go into their derby clash with Dorchester on the back of an away defeat at North Dorset last weekend.

Dorchester sit just one place above the Seasiders in Dorset & Wilts Division One South, with a 12-point advantage.

In the reverse fixture, Weymouth & Portland suffered a 46-3 defeat, which, according to manager Vaughan Carter, was a big wake-up call.

He said: “We came into that game the weekend following our county cup final against Swindon College Old Boys when we lost at least four key players to long term injuries.

“We didn’t have the strength in depth within the club to cope with that, but tomorrow we have both Ben Melhuish and Andy Bowditch back in the squad, so we are hoping for better fortunes.”

Weymouth will however be without suspended centre Bryn Llewellyn for the clash.

Elsewhere the Seasiders’ second team bring their league season to a close with a trip to Poole.

n It’s the last chance to enter next season’s Weymouth & Portland shirt sponsor’s draw.

Tickets cost £100, which includes an advertising board.

The winners will be pulled out of the hat in the clubhouse following the Dorchester game.
