DORCHESTER will look to take another big step towards promotion this weekend when they host third place Wimborne Seconds in Dorset and Wilts One South action tomorrow (3pm).

With the first team sitting top of the league with an 11-point gap back to second place Dorset Dockers, a bonus point win this Saturday will put them in pole position for taking league honours and promotion to Southern Counties rugby next season.

Coach Rich Bament knows his squad are determined to claim all five points and reverse the 34-24 loss at Wimborne earlier this season.

Bament said: “This is an important game and we are expecting a stern test against a well-drilled team.

“We will need to be clinical, focused and well organised for the full 80 minutes. I have explained what I expect from the players and I am sure they will deliver.”

With a few changes to the starting line-up due to injuries and sickness, Tom Bradbury returns to his scrum-half role while George Foot moves back to fly-half for this game.

Cameron Wills, who started his first game last weekend, retains his starting position in the back row and Dave Clark returns to the squad on the bench.

The A XV currently lies fifth in their respective league with the visitors from Bournemouth at the foot of the table.

Captain Rob Parker and Vice Captain Laurence Burch will look to capitalise on current form and pick up a vital five points to try and climb the league further.

For the second week in a row Dorchester have two senior teams playing at home as the A XV welcome Bournemouth Fourth XV in the Wadworth 6X Dorset & Wilts Three South, with both games set to kick off at 3pm.

Sunday morning the junior section takes over and the under-7s – the under-12s entertain Taunton whilst the under-15s lock horns with local rivals Yeovil.

Looking forward to next weekend and the Easter break, Dorchester will be holding the now annual Surcouf game on Good Friday March 30th kicking off at 2.30pm, which is a fantastic family event organised by club stalwart Lloyd Surcouf and his family to raise funds for the club.

With fun rugby, good food and something for each member of the family to enjoy, this community event is an Easter highlight.

The Jason Leonard RFU Under 20 County Championship game between Dorset & Wilts and Cornwall, postponed last week, will take place on Sunday at Weymouth and Portland’s Monmouth Avenue ground (1pm).
