WEYMOUTH went top of Dorset & Wilts One South with a 17-3 victory over reigning champions Swanage & Wareham Seconds at Mon-mouth Avenue.
The Seasiders have won all four of their league matches to date but only head the table by virtue of points difference.
Vice-captain Mark Sample was delighted with Saturday's commanding display. He said: "It was a fantastic win. We dominated the game from start to finish and didn't allow them to play at all.
"Swanage scored a penalty late in the first half but they didn't threaten our try line during the entire match.
"It was a good all-round performance from us but one of the keys was Craig Gelderd who stole so much possession in the line-outs.
"We're still unbeaten and although we've stuttered a bit in some of our games, we delivered a performance against Swanage & Wareham and there's a real buzz around the club."
Craig Barter got the ball rolling for the Seasiders when he ran from his own 22 to the opponents' try line and touched down for a score which Sam Polley converted.
Barter then played a part in setting up skipper Tony Worle, who crashed over the line for another try con- verted by Polley.
And the Weymouth scoring was complete when Polley successfully kicked a penalty opportunity.
n Weymouth Seconds lost their Dorset & Wilts Three South encounter at Swanage & Wareham Fourths 10-0.
NORTH DORSET II 52 PUDDLETOWN 14 PUDDLETOWN went down to a heavy defeat at the hands of North Dorset Seconds in Dorset & Wilts One South.
The loss is the Villagers' third on the spin but coach Pete Gordon said: "Every member of the squad is rightly disappointed, in both performance and attitude.
"However, the spirit in the club is excellent and everyone is aware of the effort they need to put into this week's training.
"It is early in the season and we will certainly bounce back strongly after this wake-up call."
Dan Udell and Tom Bamlet both scored tries for the visitors, with the former converting both, but they fell some 38 points short of the home side's tally.
The Villagers' second team also suffered a convincing defeat, losing 57-5 at home to Ellingham & Ringwood II.
With the score at 14-5 in the visitors' favour at half-time, the New Foresters turned the screw in the second period and ran away with a convincing victory.
