WEYMOUTH resume their push for promotion when they entertain Westbury tomorrow (2.30pm).

The Dorset & Wilts Plate winners may have seen their dreams of a Twickenham appearance dashed in last weekend’s South West Cup defeat but they remain in pole position for Dorset & Wilts One South honours.

Standing in their way tomorrow are fourth-placed Westbury and head coach Paul Harding, back on the touchline after watching England’s Six Nations win in Rome, is expecting a tough test.

He said: “The South West Cup was a bonus for us and talk of going to Twickenham was great, but our aim this year is to be in the mix at the end of the season.

“Last year we fell short and although we finished second, we were a distant second. This time we want to be in with a shout of securing promotion.”

Harding went on to add: “Tomorrow will be a tough game. They are fourth in the league and they have travelled well this season, which is something they haven’t done in previous years.”

Max Vallance and Tim Comben are both injury concerns after leaving last Saturday’s game in an ambulance.

Dorchester face another test of character as they visit second-placed Devizes tomorrow (2.30pm).

But having broken their Sherborne hoodoo in their previous outing almost three weeks ago, the county town side will no doubt fancy their chances in Wiltshire.

Martin Oxland’s men will also be buoyed by the fact they earned a 23-20 victory when the two sides last met in November.

Following a two-week weather enf-orced break, Bridport are preparing to welcome Swanage & Wareham Seconds to Brewery Field (2.30pm).

And Mark Botten’s men will be keen to avoid a third straight defeat in Dorset & Wilts One South following reversals to Salisbury Seconds and Warminster.

In the division below, third-placed Puddletown return to action at table-topping Wimborne Seconds (2.30pm).

The leaders just shaded victory in a close contest at Greenfields last Nov-ember but the Villagers are currently enjoying a run of good form and will be confident of avoiding a repeat outcome.

Puddletown expect to be at full strength with top try-scorer Dan Udell set to return after a two-match absence.

Meanwhile, Swanage & Wareham travel to mid-table Bletchley (2.15pm), aiming to pull away from the bottom two in South West One East.

After the weather put paid to last weekend’s encounter, Weymouth’s Nick Sheppard and his Dorset & Wilts Under-20 team-mates make the journey to Reading’s Holme Park on Sunday for a National Championship encounter with Berkshire (2.30pm).
