Selection headache hits Burton’s hopes
INJURED: Dorchester's Matt Chalker
INJURED: Dorchester's Matt Chalker

DORCHESTER coach Chris Burton is hoping his depleted side can rally together to conjure up an unlikely win against high-flying Oldfield Old Boys at Coburg Road tomorrow (2.30pm).

The county town outfit sit second bottom in Southern Counties South and take on a side challenging for the title.

Burton will be without the injured quartet of Damien Weston, George Damen, Daffyd Wright and Matt Chalker while Simon Pengelley, Sam Brown, Jamie Powell and Richard Borries are all unavailable.

Burton said: "We are struggling to get 15 players out on the field for tomorrow's game but hopefully those that do play will rally together in the face of adversity.

"It's going to be a difficult game for us. I was disappointed with last week's defeat to Sherborne but we did do a lot of things right, just not at a quick enough pace. We've still got points to play for so we've got to put all of our focus into winning games."

Weymouth are aiming to become the first side to beat league leaders Swanage & Wareham II in Dorset & Wilts One South tomorrow when they visit Bestwall (2.30pm).

The Seasiders climbed to third spot after last weekend's fixtures where they were handed a walkover following Warminster's failure to raise a side.

Unlike their Dorchester rivals, Weymouth are at full-strength for the trip and captain Tony Worle is quietly confident going into the clash.

He said: "As our game was called off last Saturday I went to watch Swanage play Bridport and they are a very good side, 15 games unbeaten is a fair feat.

"But if we are on top of our game then there is no reason why we can't beat them. The last time we played Swanage was a close one which we lost 18-12, but in truth it could have gone either way."

Puddletown visit North Dorset II tomorrow aiming to keep in sight of the four sides above them in Dorset & Wilts One South (2.30pm).

The Villagers lie seventh on 12 points, four behind the quartet of Weymouth, Frome II, Bridport and Westbury.

But should they suffer defeat, Pete Gordon's side will find themselves level on points with tomorrow's hosts.

Fifth-placed Bridport take on sixth-placed Westbury tomorrow in Dorset & Wilts One South (2.30pm.

The Blues have recorded just one win in their last five league encounters and will be looking to get back on track at Westbury, a side they thrashed 56-0 earlier in the season.

Swanage & Wareham travel to lowly Windsor tomorrow looking to close the gap further on South West Two East leaders Chippenham.

The pace-setters lost their first game of the season last week to Salisbury while the Swans picked up the all-important two points at home to Henley Wanderers to move within three of Chippenham.

TOMORROW'S FIXTURES South West Two East: Henley Wanderers v Marlow, High Wycombe v Bletchley, Reading Abbey v Chippenham, Salisbury v Walcot, Tadley v Cheltenham, Windsor v Swanage & Wareham.

Southern Counties South: Devizes v Corsham, Dorchester v Oldfield Old Boys, Oakmeadians v Ivel Barbarians, Trowbridge v North Dorset, Wimborne v Frome, Wootton Bassett v Sherborne.

Dorset & Wilts One South: Frome II v Blandford, North Dorset II v Puddletown, Swanage & Wareham II v Weymouth, Warminster v Wimborne II, Westbury v Bridport.

Dorset & Wilts Two South: Chard II v Blandford II, Dorchester II v Bournemouth III, Salisbury III v Wheatsheaf Cabin Crew, Swanage & Wareham III v Sherborne II, Wimborne III v North Dorset III.

Dorset & Wilts Three South: East Dorset II v Bridport II, Lytchett Minster II v Dorchester III, Poole v Weymouth II, Puddletown II v Swanage & Wareham IV.
