HEAD TO HEAD: Bridport's Will Scott and Weymouth's Ian MacConnachie
WEYMOUTH captain Tony Worle admitted "the better team won" following his side's 8-3 defeat in the Lanehouse Trophy to Bridport.
The Blues retain the trophy for another year after victory at Monmouth Avenue in a tight contest. Worle though, was philosophical after the loss.
He said: "It wasn't the greatest game of rugby but it was hard fought. Neither side played particularly well but Bridport
obviously played that bit better than us and in the end the better team won.
"We enjoyed more possession but we didn't really do much with it. It was a case of us not turning possession into chances."
The visitors took the lead through a penalty before Ryan Lewendon hit back to level the scores at 3-3 with another penalty kick.
A breakaway try proved the difference as that was to be the final score of the game, a match which saw four Bridport players sin-binned and two from Weymouth.

Worle added: "We've still got to play them in an all-important league match and I still believe that on our day, at our full potential, we are the better team.
"Although we lost I'm relatively happy in the sense that I don't feel we've got too much to worry about when we play them next."
And that crunch Dorset & Wilts One South fixture takes place next month where the winner will almost certainly clinch third spot and a potential promotion berth.
