THE South Dorset Giants make their debut tomorrow (Sunday, 3pm) when they visit the Southampton Spitfires.
The newly formed outfit, created by team manager Dave Allan, have been in training for the past month and are eager to make their bow in rugby league.
Allan said: "Training's been going well, we've got enough numbers for the Southampton game but we do need more. Unfortunately we will be without Anthony Cowburn who does have experience in this code.
"Southampton are an established side who play in the London League. But we've been training for the past three to four weeks and once we get that first game under our belts everyone will be flying.
"The team is predominantly made up of Weymouth RFC players at the moment and we're just getting to grips with it because there are totally different rules. It's all been worthwhile though."
The Giants can also look forward to a home date with Exeter Centurions on July 5, and a return meeting with Southampton on July 19.
