WEYMOUTH Wildcats’ co-promoter James Tresadern insists seeing the club back on track this season is “beyond my dreams”.

Tresadern is part of a group that has boosted the Cats’ profile over the last 12 months, as well as helping them compete in a number of challenge meets throughout the campaign.

Weymouth’s return to the shale sport has also been a successful one in recent times.

They overcame Exeter 20-16 at Somerset back in June before following that up with a big 21-14 triumph over Reading on Saturday.

The season also saw the former Radipole Lane-based outfit take part in their first full seven-man meeting at the Isle of Wight in May.

Looking back at the season as a whole, Tresadern told Echosport: “We haven’t wanted it to end.

“It has been a wonderful season and to get back on track is beyond my dreams.

“Whether we win or lose, myself and Martin (Peters, fellow co-promoter) are proud of the guys.”

He added: “The main highlight for me has got to be just seeing a full seven Weymouth team at the Isle of Wight.

“We had a full one to seven squad and to have that was brilliant.

“Winning on Saturday and winning against Exeter is up there as well.

“They do say the Speedway season doesn’t end if you are in management or promotion and it hasn’t because we are already starting to look on to next year.”

While the Cats are now back involved with meetings and have made contacts with clubs across the country, they are still on the lookout to find a new permanent home.

Quizzed for an update on their search for a permanent venue in the town, Tresadern replied: “It’s all slowly moving forward, which is what we want.

“We are still looking around for suitable land.”

n The club would also like to thank all the sponsors they have had this season, including Apollo Private Hire, Dave Bevis Transport and Ricol Leisure
