WILDCATS’ co-promoter James Tresadern insists the club’s new temporary home at Plymouth has opened up a “bucket-load of possibilities” for the Weymouth side.

Tresadern confirmed to Echosport earlier this week that the Cats would be using Plymouth’s St Boniface Arena as a base for their 2017 fixtures, with the Cats looking to enter a development league for the upcoming campaign to help establish their name once again.

He also confirmed the Wildcats are still looking for a permanent home back in Weymouth – their former base on Radipole Lane was repossessed in November 2010.

“This news we have from Plymouth means we can push forward,” Tresadern told Echosport.

“It has opened up a whole bucket-load of possibilities for us.

“We have a base now, if people from Weymouth are interested in going down to support us, we will look at putting on a minibus to get there.”

Asked about the club’s plans for 2017, Tresadern added: “We are now trying to be part of a Southern Development League.

“We have a joint Midland Development League and a Southern Development League meeting with the BSPA (British Speedway Promoters Association), on January 28.

“We are hoping there is going to be enough for a development league just in the south, but we will not know until then.

“We have got to discuss the rules and find out what teams actually want to be involved with it.

"Now we have to start looking for sponsors because obviously it is not going to be cheap for riders to make their way there (to Plymouth).”

He added: “We are still looking to find somewhere to put our own track.”
