WEYMOUTH Wildcats co-promoter Martin Peters is expecting a tough test against Kent Kestrels in their Southern Development League battle at Plymouth tonight (7.30pm).

The Wildcats lost the reverse fixture 22-13 and Peters told Echosport he is wary of the threat posed by the current league leaders.

He said: “They’ve got a couple of really good riders in their team and they’re going to be hard to beat. We’ll give it our best shot and anything can happen.

“I think they are stronger now than they were up there. It was difficult conditions up there, it was raining and we were the second match of two.

“We kind of know we’re up against it because we don’t use any National League riders.”

Against the Kestrels, Luke Woodhall is the exception to that rule with Peters revealing that the teenage star will take up the role in Devon.

“Luke is actually going to be our National League rider for this meeting. He gives us a little bit of strength,” he said.

The Wildcats will again travel to Plymouth due to a lack of a home venue, but Peters is expecting a good show from his line-up, who have already familiarised themselves with the circuit.

He said: “It’s getting used to the track and a kind of regular team.

“They have been to that track so they should be used to it and Luke rode down there in the under-19s recently as well.”

Wildcats will be without Kenny Bowdery for the meeting, with Woodhall joined by Russell Barnett, Mick Sutton and Paul Bowen.
