WEYMOUTH Wildcats will hold an evening of celebration tonight as they look back over the year and look forward to the upcoming season.

The evening, starting at 7.30pm at the Wyke Smugglers, will see sponsors thanked and the new race jacket unveiled with new signing James Jessop there to show it off.

Wildcats’ co-promotor Martin Peters said: “That is what it is for to say thank you to the sponsors for supporting us for the season.

“We are hoping to have a few people turn up and have a little bit of a party night.”

One of the sponsors for the forthcoming season, Damers Blinds, will be presented with one of the new race jackets to say a special thank you.

Peters explained: “We have gone a little bit back in time but on a modern twist but we are trying to bring it up to today, it is based on an old 1980s race jacket.”

Peters will be taking his son’s bike along to display it for the evening which people will be able to have photos taken with, and the club will be displaying other photos for people to have a look at.

Peters said: “We will try and make an evening of it and just to say thank you really. Anyone and everyone can come along.”

There will also be a discussion on how the Wildcats fared in the Southern Development League season and also following the announcement that an agreement has been made in principle to bring speedway back to the area in 2019.
