WEYMOUTH Wildcats have been given the green light to run training schools during the off-season.
The Cats’ application to run eight training schools between now and March was passed without opposition at a West Dorset District Council Planning Committee meeting.
Club chairman Phil Bartlett hopes the sessions will help nurture future speedway talent.
He said: “I am delighted with the outcome, this is the latest in a number of previous planning applications to initially allow the Wildcats to get back on track racing, and now support the next generation of speedway riders by offering them a place to practice and gain experience in their chosen sport.
“The ability to run training schools in the off-season also secures the viability of the club and provides the opportunity to spot and nurture new riders that may progress into the Wildcats’ main team.”
Dates for the winter schools are set to be announced in the near future.
