WEYMOUTH Wildcats’ team manager Jem Dicken has expressed his disappointment at losing James White-Williams.

The reserve rider, who turns 24 today, has put in a transfer request in order to join his hometown club, and fellow National League outfit, the Newport Hornets.

Dicken believes White-Williams’ decision to leave, and link up with another ex-Cat Tim Webster, came down to sponsorship. He said: “I spoke to him at the end of last season and told him I wanted him to stay and he indicated that he didn’t want to leave.

“But one of his sponsors have offered him a good deal to join Newport. I don’t know what the figure is but I can’t blame him because it all comes down to finance. How-ever, it is disappointing to lose him because he figured in our plans.”

The Weymouth Wildcats’ line-up for 2010 remains blank at this early stage but Dicken is hopeful that both Terry Day and James Cockle will sign on once again.

He added: “We haven’t got anyone signed on for definite but Terry Day is close while James Cockle has indicated a wish to come back.

“We want Terry to ride for us, he wants to ride for us and the fans want to see him riding again next season. James comes with a good attitude and I know he was heartbroken when the wheels started to come off near the end of last season.”
