THE future of Weymouth speedway is to remain unresolved until after the New Year.
There are currently two parties interested in saving the ailing Wildcats – a consortium led by former club sponsor Harold Doonan and a bid backed by Ringwood Raceway supremo Craig Robinson.
However, both men are awaiting a decision from landowners Wessex Delivery Partnership, regarding the future use of the Wessex Raceway and the cost of the rent.
Doonan, although not wishing to comment further, confirmed that he would also be waiting for the outcome of the annual BSPA meeting, which is due to be held in the week commencing Jan-uary 10 and is designed for clubs to express their interest in next year’s National League campaign.
The Wildcats have been starring down the barrel since former chairman Phil Bartlett announced plans to sell the club back in September.
Last month saw the Wessex Raceway repossessed by Wessex Delivery Partnership over unpaid rent, and the club’s licence returned to the BSPA.
