MARK Ford scored all four of his side’s goals as the Terras eased into the third round of the Red Insure Cup at the Bob Lucas Stadium tonight.

The striker gave the hosts a 1-0 half-time lead before going on to add three more after the interval against a lacklustre Poole side.

On a cold night, it took just 10 minutes for the Terras’ fans to get warmed up when their side went in front from the penalty spot.

The chance came when Ford ran on to a Dave Allen through ball and was about to pull the trigger when he was brought down by centre-half Sam Clarke.

Dorchester referee Mark Derrien took his time before pointing to the spot but didn’t even book Clarke – it was clear the Terras were expecting the ex-Weymouth defender to receive a straight red as the last man.

Ford made no mistake from 12 yards to add to the two goals he scored at Bashley in the first round.

Terras’ keeper Matt Cafer came under pressure from Steve Richardson at the other end but the resulting effort flew high and wide, while Ford forced Dan Thomas into a save with his feet.

Things got heated between Richardson and Matt Groves seven minutes before the break and both ended up being booked – they wouldn’t be the last.

Ford was on the mark again on 54 minutes, sliding in Jamie Symes’s pull back after the latter had swapped passes with Allen.

Cautions for Poole’s Josh Buck, for a reckless challenge on Luke Winsper, and Ekow Elliott followed as temperatures started to rise, on the field at least.

Then things got worse for the Dolphins when a mix-up between Richardson and his keeper let in Ford, who rounded Thomas before tapping the ball in to complete his hat-trick.

The game may have been won but Cafer was determined to keep a clean sheet and a great one-handed save from Billy Lowes was his best of the night.

But it was fitting that Ford should have the last word and his emphatic finish in the 90th minute underlined the Terras’ dominance.
