SKIPPER Stewart Yetton believes the Terras’ squad is shaping up to be a strong outfit for next season, as he prepares to lead the side in his first full term as captain.

Yetton was a shining light in the club’s underwhelming 12th place finish in the Southern Premier League last term, and having already penned a new two-year deal, the striker is backing the fresh faces around him to make an instant impact.

“Jason has made some really strong signings,” he told Echosport “He has brought in Tim Sills who is a great signing, he is experienced and the type of player he is, allows him to hold the ball up and score goals, I’m really excited because playing alongside him will help me as well.

“I don’t know Tim personally but you can tell by the way he plays the game that he is an honest, hardworking player.”

Speaking on the capture of his old pal Shane Krac, Yetton added: “I’ve grown up with Shane, he stepped up last season and has always been a top player in the leagues he has played in.

“He can use both feet, get on the ball and he is a really physical player. He is a proper man and will give us a physical edge, he certainly won’t be getting bullied by anyone and that’s what you need in there.

“I have become very fond of it here and I think Shane will be the same, he is a similar character to me and he says what he thinks, he pulls no punches and Weymouth is a place he will enjoy being at.”

The Terras’ captain will also be reunited with former Plymouth Argyle team-mate Jamie Laird, who recently made his intentions clear to gain promotion in his first season with the club.

“I know Lairdy from our Argyle days,” Yetton added.

“He is another good young player who has a great attitude, he wants to do well and he has been playing at a higher level, so getting him is a bit of a coup as well.

“All three of those players have great attitudes and they all want to do well, with the other lads we have brought in and kept from last year, I know pre-season is horrible, but I cannot wait to get back into it.

“I just want to do really well at the football club and I want my career to last a very long time there. I want to win and I want the people around me to want that as well with the right mentality.”
