PASSIONATE Terras’ boss Jason Matthews has spoken out about how much today’s Ridgeway derby at the Bob Lucas Stadium (3pm) means to him.

The Weymouth chief, a former Magpie himself, describes today’s encounter as the best derby outside of the Conference, and admits that he would love to guide Weymouth to victory in the first clash between the two clubs this season.

“When we cross that white line I am Weymouth through and through and it is massive for me now because I love this club,” he told Echosport.

“Sometimes a derby is all about who wants it the most, the players’ ability and form goes out of the window because it’s all about the day.

“For the supporters it means everything and I will echo that in the dressing room. I feel that I have a team that gives me everything and I want to see that in the derby.

“The boys are looking forward to it and I have told them that there is no better derby outside of the Conference.”

Matthews will be sweating on the availability of Tim Sills after the cut to the head he picked up on Saturday left him going to hospital for further treatment.

Jacob Wannell and Shane Krac are also touch-and-go after they both missed Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Hitchin due to illness.

Commenting on the Magpies, the Terras’ player-manager added: “Dorchester are pretty much what I expect and Phil (Simkin) is an experienced manager, he sets his side out slightly differently to how I do it.

“I feel they have two or three very good players and they need to be stopped, if we stop them and we play to our ability there is no reason why we can’t get a positive result.

“The season is not won and lost from it but it I want to win it because I know what it means to the Weymouth fans.”
