CONFIDENCE is high in the Terras’ camp at present as Weymouth search for their third straight Southern Premier League win against Slough Town tomorrow (3pm).

The Terras secured back-to-back triumphs with a 1-0 victory over Cambridge City last time out, and have only lost one of their opening six league fixtures.

Still unbeaten at home, player-manager Jason Matthews has targeted a haul of 20 points from his side’s first 10 games and is looking to pick up three more against newly-promoted Slough.

He told Echosport: “We will go into it with a lot of confidence after the win at Cambridge City, it was obviously a massive win and in my opinion I felt we fully deserved the result.

“We treat each team with the same respect when we are at home, it will be a different type of challenge at the Bob Lucas tomorrow.

“I have done my homework on Slough and I have spoken to a couple of managers from teams who have played them in the league already. From that, we have worked on our setup and worked on our pattern and we will take it from there.

Jacob Wannell and Ed Palmer could be fit to bolster the Terras’ defensive ranks, but Sam Poole may retain his place in the heart of the hosts’ defence after he produced a faultless display last time out.

On not conceding in their last two victories, Matthews added: “I think how we defended last weekend was really good, previously we have left ourselves a little bit open at the back and that was something we needed to address and in the last two games we have.

“I still don’t think we have hit top gear but that’s not necessarily a bad thing because at the end of the day we are winning games.”

Visitors Slough have picked up 10 points from their first seven games in the division, and currently occupy 11th spot in the table, two places and three points below the Terras.
