A TEAM mentality is key to Weymouth’s Jordan Copp, as he insists he is not worried what position he turns out in for the Terras, as long as he is benefitting the side.

The former Plymouth Argyle youngster admits that left-back, where he has been performing most regularly this season, is not his favoured position, but he is eager to perform the role regardless.

“Being left-footed helps Jase out a bit because I can play anywhere down the left,” said Copp, pictured, who arrived at the Bob Lucas Stadium in the summer.

“When I was a pro at Plymouth I was a central-midfielder so I suppose I prefer to play there, but I am more than happy to play left-back and I feel I do a good job there. I enjoy it and it’s not a massive deal for me. “With the central-midfielders we have got in the team it’s difficult to get a place there because they have started the season so well.

“To be honest, I am happy to play anywhere in the team and help the team out.”

Such as the depth within the Terras’ ranks this term, the 21-year-old even faces stiff competition at left-back from former Exeter City man Jake Wannell, who is suspended for today’s clash at Redditch United.

Copp added: “It’s a healthy competition. I have known Jake since we were about 10 or 11-years- old so it’s not as if it’s a rivalry.

“Whichever one of us does end up playing we have a quick chat before the game to wish each other good luck. It’s a team game and as long as one of us is playing we always want the other one to do well.

“I have settled in well in the team and the boys have been fantastic, more than anything there is a great team spirit there, we have good togetherness and that really helps when you are new to a team.

“Everyone from the players to the managerial staff and the board chats with you and gets involved, there is a good feeling around the place and that’s helped by winning.”

Speaking about today’s game at Redditch, Copp claimed: “It will be a tough one, I have played there a couple of times before and they have always been a challenging team. But wherever we go at the minute we are confident that we can pick up a result.”
