WEYMOUTH’S Luke Winsper admits he is happy to get game time away from the Bob Lucas Stadium after he starred on his debut for Sherborne Town in their 3-0 win over Slimbridge.

Having dual-registered with the Zebras late on Friday evening, Winsper put in a man-of-the-match display and lasted the full 90 minutes, setting up two goals and notching one himself in the Toolstation Western League clash.

Explaining how the deal came about, the young midfielder, who is also due to feature in the Red Insure Cup for the Terras against Sholing tonight (7.45pm), told Echosport: “It was a late thing, Jase rang me up on Friday and told me about it and I was all for it because I need the game time.

“I can’t really get into the Weymouth team at the moment because of how well we are playing but I know a couple of the lads at Sherborne and they really welcomed me.

“It took me five or 10 minutes to get into the game but as soon as I got into it I was flying. I created the two other goals, scored one, and got man of the match, so I was very happy.

“I was struggling in the last 10 minutes for fitness but I am playing for Weymouth tonight and again for Sherborne on Saturday so, by the end of the month, I’ll be up to full fitness hopefully.

“Jason has said if I do well enough I can get back into the squad and stay in there, so I just have to keep doing what I’m doing.

“I need games after the injury that I had so it’s good for me, it’s good for Weymouth and it’s good for Sherborne.”

Still recovering from breaking his metatarsal in March, Winsper admits the injury that sidelined him for the latter stages of last season will still have to be monitored, but has not seemed too painful after Sat-urday’s run out.

“The physio said it’s not where I actually broke it,” he added.

“But because of the break, there was a little bit of stress there, it feels fine after Saturday now so I am fairly happy about it.

“It’s one of those things, they say it is going to take a while to fully heal and it’s going to ache but you just have to live with it, as long as I can still play football, I don’t really care.”

Winsper is set to be included tonight at the Bob Lucas Stadium against last season’s FA Vase winners and will be among a similar squad that contested Wey-mouth’s 7-1 win over Cranborne in the Dorset Senior Cup last week.
