JASON Matthews was keen to write off his side’s lacklustre FA Trophy display against Havant & Waterlooville at Westleigh Park last night.

The Terras’ boss believes the heavy 5-0 defeat to the Hawks was a “one-off” and he insists his charges will not become a bad team overnight.

Speaking after the defeat, he told Echosport: “It was just one of those days.

“We gave Havant a two-goal start, their quality told and they punished us really. It was an uphill task from then on.

“We stood off them, it was nothing to do with respect, but we got punished.

“At half-time I just said it wasn’t good enough, it wasn’t up to our high standards and the game was dead and buried at 3-0.

“We will just put it down to being a one-off and we move on really.

“We have come unstuck but I still feel very positive. I back my players 100 per cent, it was a one-off game and it doesn’t make us a bad side overnight.”

Matthews also gave an update on the fitness of skipper Stewart Yetton, who was replaced in the second period.

“He came off as a precaution,” the Weymouth boss added.

“He has had a little tweak in his groin but I’m sure he will be fine for Saturday.”
