WEYMOUTH chief Jason Matthews wants the Terras to treat the latter stages of their campaign as a string of cup finals, as they head to fellow promotion hopefuls Corby Town tonight (7.45pm).

The Paulton-born player-manager admitted his side hadn’t hit their early season heights of late, but is keen to remain upbeat going into their encounter with the Steelmen, who have won three of their last four league outings.

He told Echosport: “Every game is huge now, I would say we have 13 cup finals and I am looking forward to the run-in.

“We have lost form, there is no hiding away from it, but we want to stay positive.

“Our quality hasn’t been quite what it was early in the season, but there were signs of it coming back on Saturday.”

A win for the Terras at Steel Park this evening would cement their spot as the side to challenge favourites Poole Town for the Evo-Stik Southern Premier Division title.

And Matthews insisted he knew where fourth-placed Corby’s main threats lie.

“I know quite a bit about them. I haven’t watched them personally but I have had them watched two or three times,” he added.

“There is no doubt that their wingers are their strong players. They are good going forward and we need to combat that. We need to hit the ground running and get forward ourselves.

“I still want to be in the mix come April, and that’s where I plan to be.”

Sam Poole is likely to come back into the Weymouth squad this evening and new recruit Neil Martin is also set to feature.

And although it is still unconfirmed, loan duo Connor Riley-Lowe and Jamie Reid are expected to return to Exeter City following their one-month spells at the Bob Lucas Stadium.
