CALVIN Brooks believes it has taken him a few games to adapt to slotting in at right-back for the Terras, but is more than happy to do the job.

A recognised central-defender by trade, the former Yeovil man may be asked to continue in the role by manager Jason Matthews, as full-back Ashley Wells serves a lengthy ban over the coming weeks.

“Playing at right-back is not ideal for me, it’s not my first choice but Jase spoke to me about it. I said if he needed me to do it I would,” the 20-year-old told Echosport.

“I see myself playing centre-back and Jase sees it the same way but if I can help the team at right-back, and we are keeping clean sheets, then that’s brilliant.

“I did it when I was at Dorchester and in development games at Yeovil. It’s not something that has just been sprung on me, but it’s hard to adapt straight away because you are playing against good players.

“I have had a few games there now and we have kept a couple of clean sheets.”

Outside of football, the Weymouth ace has now moved in with brother Marvin, who is part of the Poole Town set-up.

On living with one of his title rivals, he added: “It has probably brought us closer and made the rivalry even stronger. Obviously I hope he does well and I even go and watch him when I can.

“If he scores two goals and they lose 3-2 I am buzzing.”
