JASON Matthews has urged defender Calvin Brooks to learn his lesson after his petty red card was a huge factor in the Terras’ capitulation at Chesham.

Weymouth held a 2-1 advantage before Brooks was given his marching orders for retaliation in the latter stages of the first half. And with 10 men, the Terras buckled under the pressure from the Generals, who romped to a resounding 7-2 success.

The result means Weymouth have conceded 21 goals in a run of five league defeats on the road.

A frustrated Matthews told Echosport: “We started excellently and we were in total control until the sending off. It totally changed the complexion of the game.

“Conceding right on half-time as well wasn’t ideal and our game management was poor.

"We got punished for it yet again away from home which was really frustrating.

“Calvin is very disappointed with the incident, it was something of nothing and he has lost his head a little bit. That, with a few other things, has cost us.

"Calvin is hurting badly. He feels he has let the lads down and there’s not a lot you can say after it, you can shout and swear as much as you want but it has already cost us.

“He is young and he will learn his lesson from it. It will be a tough one for him because when you are at the top there is no room for error.

"I know the lads can bounce back but this cannot keep happening. The results went for us a little bit but we need to go again on Tuesday in the cup.”

The Terras’ boss also revealed that Tim Sills missed the game due to family reasons but is expected to be back for the Dorset Senior Cup semi-final against Poole tomorrow.
