BOSS Jason Matthews indicated he may look to bring new players into the Weymouth squad this week, but it is unlikely that Mark Ford will make a comeback to the Bob Lucas Stadium.

The striker, who has been in lethal form on his return to Blandford United in the Dorset Premier League of late, has also featured for Wessex League outfit Blackfield & Langley since leaving Weymouth back in November.

With frontman Tim Sills sent off at the weekend and set to face a suspension, speculation has risen as to whether the Terras’ player-manager would swoop to bring the hitman back for the run-in.

But Matthews has spoken out about the situation. “We’re not in a position to bring Mark back to the club," he told Echosport.

“Playing for Blandford in the Dorset Premier League — without being disrespectful — is totally different to playing in the Weymouth first-team.

“The main reason Mark left in the first place is that he played for Blandford United Reserves while under contract with us and with no permission from me.”

Ford originally signed a revised one-year deal with the Terras in May last year before being released.

On bringing in new faces to his squad, Matthews added: “We are looking into it and there may be movement, there may not, it’s hard to say at the moment.”
