JASON Matthews is set to give more of his experienced players some game time today when the Terras host Yate Town (2.30pm).

The visit of the Bluebells to the Bob Lucas Stadium comes on the back of a goalless draw for boss Matthews’ men at Bridport on Thursday night.

Matthews picked a relatively young side, which included a couple of triallists, for the Terras’ first pre-season friendly, during which Chris McPhee suffered a suspected dislocated knuckle.

Mark Molesley is still unavailable for this afternoon’s clash but Stewart Yetton returns and Pat Baldwin is expected to feature against the Southern League Division One South & West outfit.

“It was a good workout against Bridport, I was really pleased with it,” said Matthews, who confirmed that Chris Shephard is to have a scan on a leg injury.

“We went with quite a young side, Josh Tennant and Lee Sharpe got 45 minutes, and I was happy with how they acquitted themselves.

“Jake Wannell had 90 minutes and Billy Lowes did well on his first appearance.

“Josh Tennant and Lee Sharpe got 45 minutes and it was all about getting the squad together and making the group a tight-knit one.

“There will be more experience against Yate and I want to give everyone a chance in pre-season.”

As for Bridport, they entertain Gloucestershire side Patchway Town at St Mary’s Field today (3pm) before hosting Dorchester next Tuesday.
