TERRAS’ chief Jason Matthews admitted Paulton Rovers were his team’s “bogey side” last season but is eager for revenge this time around.

Rovers, who blooded a host of fresh faces in a goalless draw at home against Hungerford on Saturday, recorded a league double over Weymouth last term.

But Matthews insists that the Terras’ struggles against the Winterfield Road outfit are a thing of the past and feels it is key to record their first points of the campaign when they battle at the Bob Lucas Stadium tonight (7.45pm).

“They were our bogey side last year. They did the double over us and it’s important that we get off the mark,” Matthews told Echosport.

“They are almost a completely different team this season, there are only a few who have remained there and they will be a tough side to beat.”

Weymouth midfielder Dean Evans is expected to line up against his former club for the second time in Terras colours.

And since making the switch between the clubs in February, Matthews has been highly impressed with the former Plymouth Argyle man.

Matthews added: “Dean has done really well.

“He is a really fit lad and has cemented himself in the team. He brings a lot to the table and is a driving force in our midfield.”

The Weymouth chief was also delighted to see Mark Molesley and Chris McPhee return from injury during the 1-0 defeat to Cambridge City on Saturday.

He is also hopeful of striker Josh Grant being granted international clearance in time to feature tonight.

“There were still a lot of positives to take out of Saturday,” he added.

“Obviously it was nice to get Mark Molesley on for 20 minutes and get him some game time and it was the same for Macca (McPhee) who got on for 10.

“Hopefully Josh Grant will get his international clearance for tonight and we will go into it with fresh minds.”
