JASON Matthews described his side’s comfortable triumph at Cirencester Town last night as “a perfect away performance”.

Dominant Weymouth bagged a treble in their trip to the Corinium Stadium, with Ben Thomson, Jake Wannell and Chris Shephard all helping themselves to a goal apiece in the 3-0 win.

Matthews told Echosport: “We were bang on it right from the start and got our game going very quickly.

“We exploited Cirencester and cut them open at will all night long.

It was a fantastic performance and credit must go to the boys, everyone played their part and it was probably our best performance of the season.

“In fairness to Cirencester they had a few injuries but we had to go there and play.

“We played and passed it so well and showed glimpses of our early season form from last year which, for me, is really pleasing. There were a couple of fantastic goals in amongst it as well.

“I feel that we are starting to build on things and, with a few people missing as well, it shows we have strength in depth.

“We are playing with a lot of confidence now. We don’t want to get too ahead of ourselves but things are looking good.”

He added: “It was pleasing for the old man to get a clean sheet as well! It was probably a perfect
away performance.”
