JASON Matthews labelled his side’s 1-1 draw at Redditch United as a “frustrating day at the office” but was content to claim a point at the end of proceedings at the Valley Stadium.

After a lengthy stoppage due to an injury sustained by United’s Jamie Ashmore, a defensive lapse cost Weymouth and the Reds capitalised with their leveller through Jamey Osborne.

“The massive delay for the injury to their lad came and conceding just after that was frustrating. In the break we said about not conceding and doing the right things. It was not to be,” Terras’ player-manager Matthews told Echosport.

“It was frustrating because of the mistake but it was still a good away point overall.

“Both teams cancelled each other out in the second half and the referee blew up for a lot of things.

“It made for what was not a very good game and probably not one for the purist.

“The conditions and circumstances didn’t help in a lot of ways but I am not making it an excuse. It was just a fact of the day.

“It was a very scrappy game and a frustrating day at the office.”

The point puts Weymouth third in the Evo-Stik Southern Division pile and extends their unbeaten streak in the league to seven games.

Matthews added: “It was a really tough place to go and the conditions didn’t suit but we have a squad now.

“We coped with their threats and they played hard to beat, having lost two on the spin.

“We are putting together a nice little run.

“If you draw your away games and win your home games you won’t be far away.”
