JASON Matthews is confident of being able to overcome a heel injury in time for his side’s FA Trophy test at Bedford Town tomorrow (3pm).

The Terras’ chief picked up the problem, which he is still nursing, during the first half against Merthyr Town last Saturday.

He soldiered on until the latter stages of Weymouth’s 3-1 win before handing the gloves to striker Stewart Yetton.

Having rested himself for the Red Insure Cup triumph against Poole on Tuesday and given a start to number-two stopper Steve Boore, the Terras’ boss, who was assessed by a physio earlier this week, believes he will be fit in time to get back between the sticks.

Speaking about the game itself, where the winners scoop £3,250 in prize money, Matthews told Echosport: “It’s a really big chance and we will go there as favourites, but I think it will be a very tough game.

“Bedford are mid-table in their league and I know it’s a tough place to go. We need to go there, be professional and do a professional job.

"It will be different conditions from Merthyr and the lads need to adapt to that. I’m sure they will.

“We would like an FA Trophy run, we would be lying if we said we wouldn’t.”

Hosts Bedford currently sit 13th in Southern League Division One Central having not won in their last three games.
