JASON Matthews has urged his side to “keep believing” in their aim of making the play-offs, after being left frustrated with a 0-0 shutout at King’s Lynn Town.

The Terras’ boss admitted his side may now be “needing snookers” in their mission to land a top-five spot, but is fully focused on getting maximum points from their final trio of league outings to give themselves every chance of making it happen.

Speaking about the stalemate at the Walks Stadium, he told Echosport: “It was two points dropped, it’s as simple as that.

“You have got to be ruthless. We had chances.

“We couldn’t score the goal so it was a very frustrating day at the office.

“I think that’s the story of our season really. We haven’t taken our chances at the right times, drawn too many games and left ourselves needing snookers a little bit but I still firmly believe that, if we win our last three games, we will be in the play-offs.

“At the end of the day, we are a young side, and there will be twists and turns before the end of the season. A lot of the top sides have got to play each other still and we have done away with them.

“For me, that was the hardest game we will have between now and the end of the season.

“It’s frustrating when you look at it across the season. We have dropped some silly points along the way.”

The result means Weymouth are two points off a play-off spot in seventh in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier Division but have played more games than both Kettering and Hungerford, who sit directly above them.

Asked what he said to his players after the contest, Matthews simply replied: “Keep believing.”
