JASON Matthews is still weighing up his options with regards to retaining the goalkeeping gloves on a regular basis for the Terras next term.

The Weymouth player-boss, who was part of a defensive unit that only conceded 39 times from 46 league games in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier Division this season, insists while he still feels “fit and able” to do the job, he has also explored other options.

Asked about his future on being the number one stopper, Matthews told Echosport: “I feel that I am still fit and able. With the amount of clean sheets we kept last year, who knows?

“I am just seeing what goalkeepers are available and taking it from there really.

“It really depends on who becomes available and for what price. For me, it’s about working the budget in the best way.”

He added: “A couple of the senior pros I have spoken to seem to think I am one of the best goalkeepers in the league.

“They still feel that and I know they are pretty honest and would tell me if they thought things were wrong and I wouldn’t take it in the wrong way.

“I know personally that if I started making mistakes I would pack in anyway.

"I wouldn’t let myself get in the state of going from being a

good servant, to just prolonging things.”

Matthews confirmed that if we was to bring in a new keeper, he would still register himself as backup next season.
