MANAGER Jason Matthews believed striker Sam Jordan’s double at Stratford Town on Saturday will help ease the pain of an unfortunate injury picked up by the striker.

Seconds after coming off the bench, the former Bradford Town hotshot managed to dislocate his thumb during the clash with Town and had to have it popped back into place.

But he showed no discomfort in scoring twice in the latter stages at the DCS Stadium, and his manager was delighted to see him among the goals.

Speaking about Jordan, who now has four league strikes for Weymouth with all of them coming away from home so far, Matthews said: “I feel for Sam.

“It was his first full week in training since he has been with us.

“He had his first run (on Saturday) and dislocated his thumb.

“We had to get that put back in after he was on the pitch about 20 seconds.

“But he came back and got his two goals. That will probably soften the pain a little bit!”
