UPBEAT Terras’ boss Jason Matthews has thrown down the gauntlet to his strikers to keep up their recent scoring form.

The main trio of frontmen available to Matthews have all began to find their feet in front of goal over the last couple of weeks.

Ben Thomson struck against Gosport in the FA Cup and Cinderford Town in league action.

Stewart Yetton scored a hat-trick in the cup victory against Brimscombe & Thrupp in the cup on Saturday, adding to his strike against Gosport in the previous round.

And impact man Sam Jordan bagged his first goal at the Bob Lucas Stadium against Brimscombe at the weekend, as well as a double coming off the bench against Stratford a week previously.

Quizzed on his side’s firepower, Matthews told Echosport: “I feel that all three forwards are doing well and they have to keep it up because we are always looking to strengthen.

“But they are in the driving seat now and it’s quite nice because all three are scoring.”

He added: “Managing to get Sam on early is really nice.

"The last couple of weeks are the first two weeks he has trained fully.

“He looks really good with the ball at his feet and he gives me plenty of food for thought.”

Thomson was brought off in place of Jordan after 45 minutes of the Terras’ 6-0 weekend cup victory, with the former Frome Town man feeling the effects of a groin injury.

Chris Shephard had to be replaced in the first half and Stephane Zubar was also taken off as a precaution.

“All in all it was a good day at the office and there were not too many minus points other than the injuries,” the player-manager said after the triumph.

“I felt that Sheps caused them problems when he was on.

“He has got a hamstring injury now and that was the downside of Saturday, and a few others are struggling.

“Zubs (Stephane Zubar) is with his groin and Ben Thomson is with his groin as well.

“That was the reasons behind taking them off.”
