TERRAS’ boss Jason Matthews confirmed to Echosport he was involved in a post-match incident following the 1-1 derby draw at Dorchester Town, but denied any wrongdoing on his part.

The Weymouth player-manager went over to clap the visiting supporters following the draw at the Avenue, when an altercation was believed to have taken place.

A post on social media directed at Matthews after the game accused him of “fighting your own fans”.

Asked by Echosport for his account of the incident, Matthews said: “I went over to clap the fans for their great support and a couple have directed something towards me.

“I actually said to them ‘what would you have done about it?’ They said ‘I would have won'.

“I was trying to have a conversation with one lad and two or three other people tried to get involved.”

He continued: “For me it’s something of nothing, passions run high when people have had a drink, it’s a derby day and, as far as I’m concerned, the matter is forgotten.

“I have been accused for the last couple of games of not clapping the fans, so I went round and clapped them. From my point of view, I have not thrown any punches or anything, or done anything.

“I would quite happily challenge anyone that said I tried to throw a punch.”
