JASON Matthews admitted it is quite simply “now or never” for him to start finding results as Weymouth manager.

The Terras’ boss admitted he has been left incredibly frustrated, after four league draws on the bounce have hindered his side in climbing the Evo-Stik Southern Premier Division table.

Matthews, whose team are currently languishing in 18th, is fully aware that a number fans have called for change at the club on a managerial level, and he has set a target of seven points from his team’s next three games to address the situation.

The first of those fixtures come tomorrow as the Terras host Biggleswade Town at the Bob Lucas Stadium (6pm) – a team they beat 3-1 on the opening day of the campaign.

Giving his thoughts on his current position ahead of the contest, Matthews told Echosport: “It’s now or never.

“I am under pressure to get results and, obviously, we have drawn our last four games in the league. That is incredibly frustrating for me.

“There is only one way to ease the pressure on myself and that’s to start winning games of football. That’s what we need to do.

“We need to really play as if our lives depended on it, that’s what I will be telling the boys to do.”

Asked whether this is the most pressure he has felt as a manager so far, Matthews replied: “Massively.

“I am under no illusion that I am under pressure. I know that and I feel it, but I am passionate for Weymouth Football Club and there is nothing I want more than to win some games of football.

“The next three games we need to take at least seven points from, otherwise I have to question myself.

“I came home and gave things a lot of thought after the Boxing Day game, I was as frustrated as anyone else.”

Asked what he would say to fans that are calling for change, Matthews added: “What I would say is, if it didn’t go to plan in the next few weeks, perhaps change would be a good thing for Weymouth Football Club.

“They (the fans) are entitled to their opinions, I understand their frustrations.

“I can only look forward to the next game, which is Biggleswade. I am still in charge for that game and I have to do my utmost to make sure we win that game.”

Stephane Zubar is back for the Terras against the Waders and midfielder Chris Allen is set to be named in the squad for the first time since signing from Chippenham Town.
