DETERMINED Jason Matthews claimed he is eager to ride out the criticism that is coming his way at present.

The Terras’ boss was once again left frustrated as his side had to come from behind twice just to salvage a point at home against Biggleswade Town, in a 2-2 draw at the Bob Lucas Stadium.

Chants of ‘this isn’t good enough’ and an ironic rendition of ‘we are staying up’ were sung by fans on the night, as well as boos once again being heard on the final whistle.

Asked for his reaction after the game, Matthews, whose side have now drawn five league games in a row, told Echsoport: “Scoring twice at home and not winning is disappointing.

“I felt we had chances to win the game, I think we had at least 10 shots on target and, again, we haven’t got the goals to show from it. It’s frustrating, very frustrating. If you turn two or three of those draws into wins the people probably aren’t calling for my head.”

Asked whether he felt the crowd’s reaction was fair, the Terras’ boss replied: “On that performance, no, but I expected it.”

He continued: “I think obviously going to speak to the chap in the crowd after the derby (an incident in which Matthews denied any wrongdoing) has led to things.

“There are people who have put things on social media, which is not true.

“Anyone that was there and saw the incident knows that people are mixing stuff up and twisting it. People love a story don’t they? As far as I’m concerned I need to ride it out.

“People can throw mud at me but I have very broad shoulders and being manager of Weymouth Football Club has made me very strong minded. I am determined and I want to ride this out.”
