TERRAS’ boss Jason Matthews confirmed to Echosport that he attempted to land 29-goal hotshot Craig Feeney but admitted the striker “is happy at Winchester at this time”.

Matthews has made it perfectly clear that he has been looking to add firepower to his squad in recent weeks, with a number of seven-day approaches, including Feeney, lodged for a range of frontmen across the region.

Winchester City director of football Dave Malone told the Southern Daily Echo: “I think they’ve (Weymouth) had two or three attempts at signing Craig over the years but, let’s face it, Weymouth is a long way to travel and I don’t envisage him going.

“I spoke to Jason Matthews and I spoke to Craig Feeney and, as far as I’m aware, he’s happy where he is.”

Reacting to those comments, Matthews told Echosport: “Obviously we are looking for a striker and Craig has been scoring some goals again – he was one that we looked at.

"We put a seven-day approach in to speak to him but Craig is happy at Winchester at this time.”

He added: “Obviously we are lacking goals, so I put two or three (seven-day approaches) in to talk to players.”
