JASON Matthews offered his apologies to Terras’ fans that had to watch what he described as a “horrific” first-half display at the Bob Lucas Stadium last night.

With the Terras 3-0 down against Dunstable after 39 minutes at the Bob Lucas Stadium on Valentine’s Day, not much love was shown for the Weymouth boss, who was one again subject of boos from the home support.

But his side did battle back to force a dramatic 3-3 draw with substitute Ashley Wells popping up with a leveller with almost the final kick of the game.

Matthews was honest in his post-match assessment however, insisting his side never should have got into that mess in the first place.

“I can only apologise to the fans for the first-half performance,” he told Echosport.

“It was nothing short of horrific and the worst since I have been in charge.

“Some of the decisions that were being made on the pitch, beggars’ belief, and it’s so hard when you are sat on the touchline to legislate for that.

“We played three suicide balls and, for me, it’s a crippling blow when you want to put on a performance at home. Our home form needs to be looked at.”

He added: “The boys did show something in the second half to at least get a draw.

“We had to change things with Jake (Wannell) going off and I felt Ash showed a good reaction in coming on after being left out.

“That’s a credit to him and he got there with his left-foot swinger right at the death and I felt that was probably just reward for our second-half performance.”

Asked for an update on Wannell, Matthews confirmed the defender had once again pulled his calf muscle.
